If you want something a little bit more feature-rich–and better looking–than Google’s in-house program, you might want to take a look at the following tools. While it lacked an attractive user interface and offered only meager free storage, it managed to convince the public at large to pay a premium for cloud storage in large part due to its play-nice approach: Everything has Dropbox integration. It works well, and the price is right (free.)ĭropbox has, curiously, always been at the forefront of this movement. Over the last five years, cloud-based computing has quietly gone from fringe to standard.Įarly–and entirely legitimate–concerns about data safety and privacy still exist, but have not reduced the average person’s needs to access the same files from every device, anywhere in the world. Google already has a first-party sync tool for Google Drive for Windows and Mac. ![]() I really need a BU solution that doesn't involve 3rd party cloud storage.8 Google Drive Sync Tools To Access All Of Your Files On All Devices Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Very frustration since the original backup application on the TP was supposed to back up between plugs but didn't work and was removed. The whole goals was to provide local and remote backup without needing to use 3rd party cloud solutions like dropbox or carbonite. After that failed, I attempted it by mapping my local drive my laptop and then WebDAV to the remote TP. ![]() I first tried to perform the one-way sync between plugs using WebDAV. My set up goal is to use the TP2 as a local NAS and then back up to a remote TP at a family members house. But I have been trying with no success to back up my files between TPs. I have backed up folders/files from my work PC in the past to my TP at home with great success. I am trying to use GoodSync to back up my TP2 to my original TP. Just found this post while trying to find a solution to the exact same problem. That should eliminate the problem of it being associated only with my Mac. I have done a 'repair permissions' on the Mac with Disk Utility.Īdditionally, I am experiencing the same issue with another Mac running the same OS. If I rename the file, it does not fix the problem. I am unable to use this method on the files and it would be very time consuming plus it doesn't tell me what the problem is or what might have caused it. The file was then able to be copied to the TonidoPlug external drive. I opened the file and did a 'save as' with the same file name. PDF file that was exhibiting the problem. I am able to correct the problem on some individual files by viewing and re-saving the file. I am able to copy the files from the Mac to another location on the Mac. This is only occurring with some (approximately 50 files out of 1700 files) files. I thought maybe there was a permission problem so I looked at the 'more info' tab in Finder and this is what it looks like -> Trying to determine the problem, I tried a simple copy from my Mac to the TonidoPlug external hard drive using Finder. The problem presented itself in this display -> I am only having a problem with the Mac backup. I sync one-way, more of a backup, from my Windows machine and my Mac. I discovered the problem when I ran a sync (using GoodSync). Let me try to explain the problem better. I still have the same problem so, it seems that it's not the external drive format scheme that is causing the problem. I have tried formatting NTFS, FAT, and now EXT3. ![]()
